Opportunities for theatre based work are mainly through touring
and the international
festival circuit. There are a number of courses that offer puppetry and
mime as part of a performing arts syllabus.
Dedicated puppetry courses are offered at specialist puppet centres.
Many of these courses build upon previously gained experience to enhance a
puppeteers professional development. There are a few apprenticeships,
the equivalent of a youth theatre or dance company, where students may
learn their trade; details are available through the puppet centres or Regional
Arts Boards.

New circus differs from traditional circus in that it focuses
upon human
skills such as aerial work, juggling and balancing work.
Should you wish to join the traditional circus direct contact should be
made with individual circuses that often require seasonal assistants.
Advertisements are run in The Organ and The Worlds Fair.
