I noticed a letter in the Stage recently, from a theatre director,
complaining about young actors and actresses sending letters and CV's to
his theatre, even though it wasn't a producing house.
I thought it was probably worth a small piece on this sort of thing, as not only can br>
it be annoying to the directors but it's also a waste of your time and money.
Much better to get an up to date copy of Contacts and check thoroughly
that the people you are writing to are the ones that are actually
in a position to give you work!
The same applies to agents, there's no point in inviting every agent in
the book to your showcase, if it turns out that half of them deal with supporting artistes, animals and children.
Do your research first and it will pay off (not least of all in the saving of stamps and costly repros!)
